Son of John Rodger Yates and Jane Elizabeth Yates nee Lowe of Eyre Street, Ballarat, Victoria
Next of kin was later given as his brother John Yates of Ferry Street, Kangaroo Point, QLD. Also brother of Charles Egerton Yates MM who returned to Australia on 11 May 1919 having served with the 52nd Battalion
Commenced return to Australia on 8 October 1918 from Taranto, Italy aboard HT Port Sydney disembarking on the 2 December 1918
