Son of Henry Rampenelli Versi and Annie V. Versi nee West of Argwle Place, Carlton, Victoria

Declared a deserter on 31 July 1916 when he failed to re-embark HT Ballarat at Fremantle and awarded four months detention. He was later trasferred to the 28th Battalion but failed to re-embark HT Borda at Duban and again declared a deserter.

Commenced return to Australia on 9 May 1919 Hororata from South Africa under close guard disembarking on 10 June 1920

During 1920c Louis married Alice McNamee in Victoria
