Born 1 November 1921 at Rose Park, the son of Walter Healey and Florence Pulham.
Hamley enlisted on 2 August 1941 in the Australian Army. Locality of enlistment was Henley Beach, place of enlistment was Adelaide. Next of Kin was his father Walter.

He married Valerie Joan Bayes on 24 April 1948 and they had 4 children.
