Add my storyBiography contributed by Faithe Jones
William was the younger son of Elizabeth and the late Mr. William Graham, who was on the composing staff of the Sydney Morning Herald for over 40 years, was for about nine years employed in the office. He was born at Paddington on December 29, 1889, and entered the linotype department as an apprentice on December 29, 1904.
He was accepted for active service in July 1915, after two previous unsuccessful attempts to enlist, and sailed in October of that year with the 11th reinforcements for the 1st Battalion. In Egypt just before he sailed for France, he was transferred to D Company, 1st Battlaion. At Pozieres he was wounded and sent to England. Shortly after returning to the Front he was killed in action on the Somme at Flers, on November 5, 1916, during a raid on the German front lines.
