He was 25 and the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Hatt, of The Lodge, Furzfield, Eastwood Road, Leigh-on-Sea, England.
His brother, Serjeant Thomas Edgar Hatt, Service Number 590293, aged 23, also fell [21/03/1918] He also held the Military Medal. He served with the 1st/18th Bn.
London Regiment (London Irish Rifles). He has no known grave and therefore is commemorated at Bay 10 on the ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
The brothers are remembered on the family grave in Southend, Sutton Road Cemetery.
