Born at Midmar, Scotland.

Midmar is a historic settlement in Aberdeenshire north of Banchory and southwest of Inverurie, 15 miles west of Aberdeen. 

He enlisted at West Wyalong, NSW.

He was 28 and the son of Mrs. Matilda  W. Christie (formerly Walker), of Lochside, Skene, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and the late Alex Walker.
