Aubrey Charles Halliday MARKWELL was born on 4th October, 1886 in Sandgate, Queensland

His parents were James Isaac MARKWELL & Adelaide Eliza COMPORT

He enlisted in Toowoomba on 23rd October, 1916 & embarked with the 49th Infantry Battalion, 9th reinforcements on 24th January, 1917 from Sydney on the HMAT Ayrshire

Aubrey died from Pneumonia on 7th January, 1918 at the 21st Clearing Station and is buried in the Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery (Plot IX, Row F, Grave 7)
