Son of John Goodall and Susan Goodall nee Wilson of Cob-o-Corn, Kyogle, NSW. Brother of Andrew Gillison Goodall who returned to Australia on 12 May 1919 having served with the 49th Battalion; James Edward Goodall who returned to Australia on 8 October 1918 having served with the 3 Divisonal Ammuniton Sub Park; John Baldock Goodall who was  killed in action on 9 March 1917 while serving with the 22 Battalion and is buried in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, Plot 1V, Row F, Grave 27
