He enlisted at Cairns 29.12.1914 and rose through the ranks from Trooper, Driver, Lance Sergeant [14.10.1916], Second Lieutenant [10.01.1917] and finally, Lieutenant [23.04.1917.]

He was discharged with Pulmonary Tuberculosis from No. 6 Australian General Hospital Stanthorpe on 03.04.18.
