Corporal Frank Morrison Johns (894) was born and educated at North Melbourne. He is 45 years of age and is a son of the late Samuel and Ellen Johns (nee Wiggins). He was married in 1900 to Georgina Alice Hide, daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Hide. They have one child, Elsie Doris Johns. He left Western Australia on the A28 (Miltiades) on 29th January, 1917, with the first Railway unit (West Australian section) to leave Australia. After a short period of training in camp, he left for France. His company was operating on the Western Front from May, 1917, until April 1918. He was attached to the 53rd Battery, an English company; at Ypres for two and it half months; also on the Somme Front for some months. He left England for Australia on the Konegin Louise in June, 1919.
