Births Mar 1892 Newman William Allen Kettering 3b 165. The son of Henry & Harriett Newman
His NoK was listed as his Father, Henry Newman, 22 Johnson Street, Annandale, New South Wales
He was resident at 'Burland', St Georges Crescent, Drummoyne, New South Wales, at the time of enlistment.
He enlisted at Kiama, New South Wales in June 1916. He embarked from Sydney for Plymouth per the H.M.A.T. "Ceramic," on the 7th of October, 1916. He proceeded from Folkestone to Etaples in France per the "Golden Eagle," on the 28th of February 1917. He was transferred from the 53rd Battalion to the 17th Battalion. He fought on the Western Front until he received a gun shot wound to the left thigh and to the face at the second battle of Bullecourt on the 3rd of May 1917.
He is one of 10 Australian casualties of the Great War honoured on the Kettering War Memorial.
