Barney (born Ferdinand Albert AKA Burnett Albert) was the third of six children of Albert Christe Everding (born 1848 in Germany) and Auguste (Agnes) Eggert (born 1849 in Germany). August immigrated to Brisbane, QLD in 1871, on board the John Bertram and Agnes arrived in 1866 on board the Cesar Goddefroy. August (a Labourer) was working in Dalby, QLD in 1877 when he married Agnes in Brisbane, QLD. August and Agnes lived in Waloon, Ipswich and Brisbane, where August was a Tobacconist, Hairdresser and Boardinghouse Keeper.
Barney was a Labourer in Ipswich, QLD when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916. He served as a Private (Service No:4392) with 18th/25th Infantry Battalion, 31st Infantry Battalion and 15th Infantry Battalion in France. Barney was WiA in 1917 (GSW to his eye) and was Discharged in 1919. Brother Christopher (Service No:5331) also served in WWI.
In 1919 Barney married Lucy Davies (nee Titie, born 1885 in Ipswich, QLD). Barney and Lucy settled in Ipswich, where Barney was a Labourer before relocating to Cleveland in Redland Bay in the early 1940s. Barney died in 1944 and Lucy in 1947.
