Cecil Roy Hollamby was born in Macclesfield, South Australia, on the 20th May 1895 and died from a stroke, 40kms from Naracoorte, 30 September 1948, aged 53 years old.

At his time of enlistment he was 5 foot 10 inches (183.2cm) and weighed 154lbs (69.8kg). He had grey eyes and fair hair, had perfect vision and vaccination scars. When he joined the war, he was only 22- and 4-months years old. Hollamby enlisted on the 19th of October 1916, and served in the 23rd Field Artillery (Howitzer) Brigade. His service number was 32520. 

Before life in the war, his occupation was a Dairy Farmer.

He got on the boat in Melbourne on the 14/2/17 and got off the boat at Plymouth in England on the 11/4/17. He served as a driver. Hollamby wasn’t always well behaved. While serving you were supposed to have identity tags with your service number and name and details/ identity on you at all times. He was caught without them so they took away his pay for 3 days. He was hospitalised sick on 30th January 1918, rejoining his unit on the 20th February. Amonth later he was hospitaised again in France and left hospital on 12th of April 1918 to rejoin his unit.

He returned to Australia from England in September 1919 He was discharged 9th October 1919.
