Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Charles EDWARDS and Catherine nee THOMPSON

"Mrs. Charles Edwards, Junr., has received word through the Rev. H. Severn, that her husband, Private Charles Edwards has been killed in action. The late Private Edwards was one of a very well-known fighting family in Port Pirie, being the second son of Mr. Charles Edwards, of Port Pirie West, whose six sons — all the boys in the family — answered the call of their country. Mr. Edwards, Sen., was one of the early residents of Port Pirie, and the late soldier, who was 33 years of age, was born here. Some considerable time ago he worked at the Smelters, but in later years he followed the occupation of a barman, having been employed at the Exchange and Wakefield hotels, Adelaide. He leaves a widow and a baby son, for whom deep sympathy will be felt." - from the Port Pirie Recorder 29 Oct 1917 (nla.gov.au)
