Married Mabel Howard in 1920 and had 3 children-Thelma, Ian( who served in WW2 )and Averil.
Worked in Bathurst on the railway as a fireman for train driver Ben Chiefly ( who went on to be Prime Minister of Australia). Later moved to Taree as an engine driver. He transported troops during WW2on the railway. Stayed in Taree after retirement and died in Sydney.
