Biography

"ANZACS IN ACTION  LATE LANCE-CORPORAL KLAUER.

Lance-Corporal Stanislaus Klauer, who was reported killed in action in France on September 2, was the only son of Mrs. Klauer and the late Hon. E. L. Klauer, M.L.C., and was in his 22nd year. He left Australia for Egypt on November 15, 1915, as Coy.-Sergt. Major in the 6th Reinforcements of the 27th Battalion. Upon arrival in France he became attached to the 2nd Field Survey Company, afterwards becoming Observer. Prior to his death he was attached to the 7th A.I.F. Brigade Concert Party. He was educated at the Christian Brothers' College, and was a law student at the University prior to enlisting. He was a prominent and popular member of the College Debating Society, and a member of the Sturt Choral Society. Whether in the class room or engaged in field sports his enthusiasm and manly bearing won him hosts of admirers among his fellow-students, who will be sorely grieved that the career of such a charming young man, so full of promise, has been cut off in the flower of his manhood. Great sympathy also is felt for Mrs. Klauer in her great bereavement.—R.I.P." - from the Adelaide Southern Cross 27 Sep 1918 (nla.gov.au)
