Leslie Lawrence Story
Leslie (known as Les) was born 20 September 1917 at Mitcham, South Australia. Youngest son of Emily Ethel May LAWRENCE nee LADAMS.
He attended Sturt Street Primary School. He had many different professions ranging from milking cows, delivering bread, milk & newspapers until his service in WW2. His main profession post WW2 was a Postman with the Brighton Post Office which he eventually become Officer in charge in 1966.
He married Coralie Harriet EASTICK & had 3 children at the time of enlistment.
Les served with 2/25th Battalion from 4th April 1943 to 14th March 1946 serving in New Guinea & Borneo.
Post WW2 another child was born. He was a member of the Brighton RSL & was made a life Member on the 16th February 1987.
In 1996 he received a recognition award for 35 years of service as a Hospital Delegate for the Brighton RSL.
He was also a member of the Brighton District Nurses fund raising committee.
Les died at Alambi Aged Care facility at Glengowrie on 9 May 2004 aged 86 years
His remains are at Centenial Park Cemetery West Gardens RB W25.
