On the 10th May 1921 Gordon Lambert was born at Camden to William Lambert Dunn and his wife Winifred May. Upon joining the AMF on 29 May 1941 he was attached to 605COY where he was promoted to Lieutenant on 30th June 1942. At Victoria Barracks in Paddington NSW on the 28th August 1942 he volunteered and was accepted for service in the Australian Infantry Forces retaining his officers rank. He served continuous was service in both the AMF and AIF in Australia and overseas during his term of enlistment.
On the 15th June 1945 he recieved a promotion to the rank of Captain while attached to the 8 Base Ordinance Depot. He saw operational service at Mataranka in Australias far north for six months from 28 October 1944 to 22 June 1945. On 13 December 1945 he embarked the Westralia at Brisbane bound for New Britain, an island off the coast of New Guinea and returned the following year arriving Sydney on 9 July 1946 via the Ormiston.
On the 21st May 1947 he returned to "civvy street" upon recieving his discharge from the AIF and took up his former occupation as public servant. After marrying Marjorie Vera Gilbert on 24 September 1952 at Brighton le Sands in NSW they moved to Bexley to settle down to married life.
He was hit by a car on 4 July 1953 and subsequently died in the St. Georges Hospital, Kogarah later that day. Following his cremation at the Eastern Suburbs Crematorium his ashes were buried in the Round Rose Garden B8.
