Son of Mr and Mrs T.J. RANDALL of 201 Beulah Road, North Kensington, SA. Educated at Norwood Central School he was a member of the Electric Light Cricket Club and was fond of swimming and also took part in bicycle racing both track and road. He was also a member of the Norwood Sea Scouts. In civilian life Cyril worked at Simpson and Sons and then moved to Richards Motor Works. Enlisting in June 1940 he left Australia in December 1940 for the Middle East and fought through desert campagins to Tobruk and then on to Syria. Cyril had a bright disposition and was very popular. His father was a member of the 2nd Batt. West Yorks a British Regiment in the Great War and was taken prisoner at Pozieres in March 1918 but released after the Armistice.
