As a result of his action while wounded, he was recommended for a Military Cross on 24 September 1917. It was not awarded but on 3 Oct 1917 Harris was Mentioned in Despatches in Sir Douglas Haigs Despatches 7 November 1917   "For distinguished and gallant devotion to duty 20 Sep 1917"

9 April 1918 Detached for duty at Corps Reinforcements Camp as Instructor

2 August 1918 rejoined 27th Battalion

9 August 1918 Wounded (2nd time)  - GSW  severe fracture of the left fibula

11 Aug Lof C (Line of Communication?) Hospital 12 August 1918 8th Red Cross Hospital Bolougne

16 August 1918 invalided to UK Wounded.

17 August 1918 3rd London General Hospital 

Granted leave with pay & subsistence to attend Laycock Anderson woollen mills Bradford. - extended to August when he resigned and took his discharge. 

His wife by this time had joined him in the UK 

Appointment terminated in London 27 August 1919 - demobilised

His Victory Medal was mailed to him C/- American Woollen Company Boston Massachusets USA 30 Nov 1921
