The late Corporal Tucker.

Word has been received by Mrs. Daniel Tucker of Curramulka that their fourth son, Lance Corporal Riland Melville Tucker was killed in action on October 16.  Corporal Tucker enlisted in April, 1916.

Before leaving South Australia he went through the N.C.O. school and gained a Sergeants certificate and grenadiers badge.  He left for England in August, 1916. and was then chosen as one of two men from his battalion to attend the Tidsworth N.C.O. school.  He was afterwards appointed to the musketry instruction staff at Codford for 3 months and on April 7 he left for France and was wounded in the big push at Messines on June 15 and was invalided to England.

He eventually recovered and returned to France on Sept 27 and rejoined his Battalion.  Lance Corporal Tucker was 24 years of age and spent all his life in Curramulka.  He took a great interest in all sport & dramatic circles and was highly esteemed by all in the district

His death is deeply regretted.
