Son of Alfred Oliver and Amelia Oliver nee Elkins of Surrey, England.

Prior to moving to Australia Arthur served in the English Mounted Infantry for four years before being invalided out.

Husband of Nellie Oliver nee Killick of Kureelpa via Nambour, QLD. Nellie died in 1920. Arthur re-married in 1940c

Commenced return to Australia on 1 November 1917 aboard HT Anchises disembarking on 3 January 1918.
