Biography contributed by Richard Munro

One of the Wyrallah district's best-known residents, Mr. Victor Albert Clarence Munro, 63, died in Lismore in the early morning of the 14th of September 1950. Victor was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Munro, who were among the first to settle at Steve King's Plains. He was born in that locality and, excepting for five years of war service in World War I, had lived there all his life.

Victor had followed the land and had always been engaged in dairying pursuits. As a young man, he possessed sporting ability above the average. He was a keen footballer in the Coraki competition. He also played cricket and tennis and followed rifle shooting with success.

He enlisted as a young man with the 5th Light Horse. He landed at Gallipoli within a few weeks of the original landing, and afterwards saw active service in Palestine. Following his discharge, Victor returned and settled again at Steve King's Plains. Prior to his death he had been in ill-health for some months. Victor was a single man, and was survived by two brothers, Messrs. Charles Munro. of Lismore, and Mr. Donald Munro, of Steve King's Plains, and two sisters, the Misses Florence and Grace Munro, of Steve King's Plains. His funeral was held at the Wyrallah Presbyterian Church on the 15th September 1950 and he was buried at the Tucki Tucki Cemetery.
