Dean Raymond RYAN (Deano) joined the Army in 1965 in Adelaide. He was allocated to RAASC. He was married on 17 August 1967 to Vicki in Sydney NSW. Deano was posted to 85 Transport Platoon, Nui Dat, South Vietnam on 30 October 1969 and served as a section commander. His main duties were the insertion, resupply and extraction of Fire Support Bases throughout Phuc Tuy Province, insertion of Infantry into areas for patrolling and ambushing and extraction.

Deano worked his way up through the ranks to become RSM of 9 Transport Regiment followed by RSM of Army School of Transport and Corps RSM.

He was commissioned to the rank of Captain on 1 January 1986 and Major in 1989. He retired after 27 years of service in 1992 after a short period with the Ares.

Deano worked in a Law firm  for 12 years and then became TPI. He put his skills to work becoming an Advocate for servicemen and their families. He was awarded the OAM on 1 January 2016.
