Born in Balaklava, South Australia to Helen Alice and Joseph Ivan Williams. Only surviving child after 3 female neonatal deaths. Foster brother to Ronald Herman Key.
Raised in Balaklava and Adelaide.
Joined Bank of South Australia and became manager of Maitland branch.
Was a member of the reserve army and then enlisted to regular army- Transport corps
Served in Vietnam.
Respected senior member of Australian Army holding many commanding posts including OC Puckapunyal, Head of recruiting South Australia, Deputy Director of Recruiting Australia, Head of Logistics South Australia
