Raymond John Edward Stacey - Mother Veronica Ellbourne - Father Digby Stacey. Apparently a German Irish cross we are???

I never met my Grandfather Digby... I did however spend many years getting to know my Nanna Stacey. Gorgeous real lady. Easily pleased woman who loved her son.

Every Sunday we would go to Nanna's to deliver her food order that she had given Dad early in the week. My Nan could eat! Loved a roast and veg and she shared a shandie with Dad and what I remember most of Nanna Stacey was she always wore lipstick. Dad was just lovely with her. A very loving boy with his Mum. My Dad was a mummy's boy, according to my Mum.

My Dad

My Dad was a gentle giant, well not according to the boys who tried to date one of his girls. He was a good husband to my mother, very good. She was his world and he was protective of her right to the end. His values were excellent, a good man is how he is always described. He loved his girls and led a simple life and was very easily pleased.

A brother to Jean (deceased) he found a good friend in his brother-in-law Mick (also deceased).

He disliked fake and false people and did not suffer fools. In his youth he enjoyed the comerarderie of his blokey mates. A Beer and a smoke in good company and he was as happy as. Played football for Essendon but the pretty girls took preferance over sport. He had a love of horse racing - it was his hobby to study to jockeys and take his chance with a bet.

He made the best Master of Ceremonies at any event. A wonderful speaker who kept his audience entertained.

I miss him and he died holding my hand very peacefully. - Beverley Stacey (daughter)
