Add my storyBiography contributed by Anita Tsamtsikas
the following was relayed to me by Ray a year before he died.
Ray enlisted in WW11, two times, first on March 5 1942 at the age of 16. Service number S45426 they found out his true age and kicked him out.
Enlisted the second time Feb 1945 in the Navy. Service number PA5142 on the HMAS Lonsdale.
By all accounts Ray and his brother had a difficult life. He stated when he was 15 he returned home and found the place empty, his parents had left him without anything. His Aunt let him stay with her until he joined the army in 1942.
When Ray got out of the navy he went to Sydney and was a known criminal. He was involved in the writing of his life in the following book ....'From crime to Christ'
he also was involved in the writing of another book 'Streetlight' also based on his life.
Raymond in his later years became a Reverend.
By all accounts he had a very hard life growing up but in the end he was happy on who he was.
