Acting Engineroom Artificer IV. Leonard Symes, who joined H.M.A.S. Perth last November, is a son of Mrs. A. Symes, of Lower North road,  Ovingham, and the late Mr. A. J. Symes, of Malaya. Born in Boulder City, Western Australia, he lived for several years in Malaya and later attended  the Prospect and Adelaide High Schools. Before joining the Navy last June he was employed in the railway workshops at Islington.
