Roy Keith Lorents Kohring
This was my grandfathers correct spelling of his name. He was born in 1910 to parents of German ( John Henry Kohring) Danish (Selma Marie Olafsen) descent.
I knew my grandfather so very well as he was my only father figure in my life.
My grandfather's half brother Jack Exelby Kohring and was part of the Somme battle where he was killed Roy was 7 years old at the time. Roy was proud of his older brother, hence telling me his granddaughter about his grand brother.
Roy was a gentle kind little man, a sailor in the war and returned to his wife Violet May (Moore) Kohring when the War was over, where he discovered his young daughter who was born in 1936 Eleanor Marie Kohring.
