Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick JAMES, 11 Osmond Street, Hindmarsh, SA. Educated at Morgan and gained his Q.C., he played football and cricket and was fond of swimming. In civil life he worked at the Eudunda Farmers, Morgan, and then transferred to Adelaide where he was later employed by the 'Loxtie' Battery Factory at Southwark. He joined the RAN in December 1941 and was called up in June 1942 and sent to Flinders. His father (Sergeant Frederick James) was a member of the 4th and then the 7th Dragoons, an 'Old Contemptible'.
