Mr Hoffann while at Adelaide High show promise as a sportsman, he was on the athletics and rowing teams. He played cricket for Prospect, for the League and the Navy.  For the League he played cricket, football, and basketball teams were he won honours interstate for the SA Branch. He played for the Navy in 1944  in an inter-service series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Having started work at the SA Branch in 1941 as an officeboy he enlisted aged 17 in the Royal Australian Navy.  On his discharge he returned to work at RSL SA soon raising to the post of Records Officer in 1948, Office manager 1956 and the State Secretary 1960.  Ken also served as the secretary of the Services Cemetery Trust.
