Son of Samuel James Thomas Hussey and Mary Ann Hussey nee Riddle of George Street, Mackay, QLD

On 18 July 1917 while en route to England disembarked at Capetown for hospital. On 26 August 1917  he re-embarked at Capetown to return to Australia aboard HT Ceramic disembarking on 15 September 1917
