F.O. Child
On Mid-North
WAAF Tour
Good results were expected from the just-completed tour by an Air Force recruiting unit of middle northern towns, said the director of WAAF recruiting in South Australia (Flight-Officer Mary Child) today. F./O. Child was in charge of the WAAF section of the unit which visited towns in cluding Port Augusta, Quorn and Whyalla. It was made mainly to give the R.A.A.F. officer in charge of country recruiting (Squadron-Leader C M/. Feez) an opportunity to meet recruiting committees in the various towns. News of F./O. Child's promotion from Section-Officer to Flight-Officer came through on Friday. A South Australian by adoption, she was born in Western Australia.
Flight-Officer Child has been a member of the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force for two and a quarter years. She was an office worker in civilian life.
