World War One
My great grandfather flew bombers over Netherlands dropping off food parcels for the starving Dutch. He also flew bombers over Dresden in night raids, which I'm told was with his brother in another plane.
He was a pilot after the war and acrobat flyer and crop duster, he died after hitting powerlines installed by SEC which failed to notify airfield, RAAF or put flying markers on lines that had been installed in Heyfield, VIC. He left behind a wife, two young children, my father Phillip and Valerie. His medals are held by family in Tasmania.
