Flying-Officer Allen Vernon McDonough is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. McDonough, of Springfield avenue Springfield. He enlisted for the Royal Australian Air Force early in  1940, and did most of his training in the eastern States. Twelve months ago he was posted to the Hobart with the rank of flying-officer. He was later transferred to the  Perth.
Flying-Officer McDonough was educated at Scotch College, where he was keenly interested in rowing, being cox of the college eight. He was a member of the Sporting Car  Club. Before enlisting, he was in his father's business. He has two brothers, Desmond, who is a staff-sergeant with the A.I.F., and John.
