During the Second WW, 5594 Owen Horsley (Bob) Lewis, son of Raymond Horsley Lewis MM, enlisted on December 19, 1939. He ultimately achieved the rank of Flight Lieutenant and after training in Canada was posted to the UK, flying for the duration of the war with 455 and 461 Squadrons. 461 Squadron was a RAAF maritime patrol squadron with operated under RAF control in Europe and over the Atlantic. Submarine search and destroy missions were their main objectives. Bob died at a relatively young age (considering male life expectancy in the Lewis line) following a very successful career as a drafting engineer with General Motors Holden. - Courtesy of family member Stephen Lewis
