Flight Lieutenant Ellis was discharged from the RAAF in July 1943 and he died in Adelaide from illness in March 1944

In late October 1941 then Pilot Officer Ellis was injured in the crash of Blenheim V6297 of Number 70 Operational Training Unit (70OTU) at Lake Victoria, Africa
