Sergeant Leonard Alexander Einsaar DFM 407318 RAAF survived the downing of Marauder FK367 of 14SQN RAF which was shot down into the sea off Benghazi in Libya in December 1942 - Sergeant Percival Cockington 407707 RAAF and Sergeant Tom Ellis Exell 401305 RAAF were killed

Sergeant Einsaar also survived the downing of Marauder FK378 of 14SQN RAF in April 1943 and ended up as a Prisoner of War, following his release he remained in the RAAF until he was discharged in November 1945

Leonard Alexander EINSAAR was born in Awaba, NSW on 28th May, 1913

His parents were Gustav EINSAAR & Fuli (Juuli)  RUNAPUN (known as Julia) who married on 4th March, 1899 in NSW

He married Vera Isabel LEAN in East Maitland Methodist Church, NSW on 22nd September,  1947

Leonard had previously served in the 35th Battalion between 1930 and 1933 and resigned to join the Police Force
