Halifax JP209 of 148 Squadron RAF crash-landed in Yugoslavia on 14 February 1944 while taking part in supply drops to the local partisan forces. The crew were evacuated back to Italy where Warrant Officer Pascoe 437156 RAAF was hospitalised with injuries from the crash and a fever. He died 3 months after the aircraft crash; probably at the 98th British Army General Hospital in Bari, Italy
