The death occurred on August 6, at his late residence, West Tamworth, of Mr. Hugh Owen Hagan, son of the late Mr. Myles Hagan, a well-known pioneer of the Barraba district, at the age of 45 years. Deceased, who was an Anzac, was at the evacuation of Gallipoli, and was invalided home in June, 1916. His death was due to chronic bronchitis and spinal trouble, brought on by war injuries. He was well known in Gunnedah and Moree districts, having kept the Freemasons' and Post Office Hotels for a number of years. Later he acquired a grazing property in Queensland, where he resided up to the time he enlisted in the A.I.F. in 1914. He married Miss Josie Curran, of Bega, who survives him. The remains were taken to Barraba for interment, the Rev. Father Condon officiating at the graveside R.I.P.
