Cricketer Killed In Plane Crash
Advice has been received by Mrs. Frances McCartin, of Kildalton avenue, Evandale, that her husband, Sergeant-Pilot James V. R. McCartin, lost his life as the result of an aircraft accident at Nairn, Scotland, on June 20. Sgt. McCartin joined the Royal Australian Air Force in June 1940, and left Australia in December, 1941. He was educated at the Christian Brothers' College, Wakefield street and Rostrevor. He was an insurance agent with the Colonial Mutual Life Society. He played district cricket for Adelaide.
