Walter's (Nugget) family history
Walter was born on 15 January 1926 at Roper River in the NT to parents Tim and Sarah Hampton.
Walter was third oldest son of 12 children.
He enlisted in the Airforce on 8 August 1944 in Adelaide and was
discharged on 2 October 1946. His service number is: 153470.
Walter's brothers Reginald and Noel also served in the Army/Airforce during World War 2 and brothers Eric and Roy in the 1960's during peace time.
Walter married Ivy Foster and had 1 daughter Jenny. Walter is survived by his daughter, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren all whom live in Alice Springs
Walter operated his own business and with his family installed the
first power station and lines in Tennant Creek in the 1970's.
Walter's wife Ivy Hampton was also a world champion women's dart player and well known sportswoman.
