Add my storyBiography contributed by Julie-Anne Andrews
George was my beloved Pop. Grandfather, also to Philip. A father to David. Great Grandfather to my son and to Philip's son and daughter.
Before and above all else he was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Mary of fifty years until her death five years before his own. He simply adored her. They wrote the book on what a true love story looks like. It was such a privilege for me to witness.
I never knew this beautiful man to have a free hand whenever he was out. One hand would always be gently placed on Mary's elbow, the other simply held her handbag.
George was an old soul. Kind, gentle of Spirit, generous, accepting of all; with a wicked sense of humour. He loved a great philosophical conversation and was a splendid debator of all things he felt passionately about. On summer evenings he would love nothing more than to sit on the verandah with his Mary and sip a shandy, while singing softly all of the greats from WWII.
All I am, I owe to him. A debt that can never be repaid.
He is loved, cherished and missed, each and every day.
