A Country Life
Ron and his wife Rose-Marie (nee Stearman), owned and operated the General Store at Dublin, South Australia for a number of years. At the store they sold vegetables, sweets, groceries, dress materials, slippers, tobacco and cigarettes, poisons, makeup, toys, haberdashery and Commonwealth Oil Refinery petrol from both the bowsers and 44 gallon drums.
Ron travelled to Mallala every Friday to collect meat, bread and cakes. Cool drinks were kept in the cellar, as there was no electricity. Milk and cream were only available if there were orders for it. The majority of residents either had their own cows.
His family all lived in the general area (around Lower Light, Dublin, Mallala). He was the youngest of 7. With 2 older brothers and 4 sisters. They were the children of George and Clarissa (nee Bailey).
He and 'Marie' married 27 Jan 1944 at Prospect and had 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl) Barry George, Donald George, Tyrone and Diane.
