At the time of his enlistment he was in Booborowie, SA working as a Shop Assistant and Lorry Driver with SA Farmers Union

Son of George Phillip Beinke and Maria Meta Beinke nee Schoenberg. Brother of William Herbert Beinke who served with the RAAF during WW2 being discharged in 1946, Stanley George Beinke who served with the RAAF in WW2 being discharges in1946, Allan Maxwell Beinke who served with the RAAF during WW2 being discharged in 1946 and Vivian Philip Beinke

Leslie served in the South West Pacific between 20 November 1943 until 10 June 1945 as an Electrical Mechanic

Bert was a member of the Henley & Grange RSL Sub Branch and the Mitcham Branch of the RAAFA. Bert first joined the RSL on 3 September 1945 and his badge number was S52964. He was also a member of Legacy of South Australia and Broken Hill which he served faithfully for 41 years
