Son of Robert Osmand and Mary Brown Osmand nee Boyd of Lavington via Albury, NSW. 

Brother of Norman Hugh Osmand DCM who returned to Australia on 17 February 1919 having served with the 1st Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 19 February 1919 aboard HT Orca disembarking on 31 March 1919 at Melbourne for discharged.

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

During 1925c Sydney married Jean Michell in Albury, NSW

In January 1963 Sydney was residing in Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay, NSW
