Eileen TREBILCOCK
Eileen TREBILCOCK was with the WAAF in WW2. In 1942 she married Colin Eric TREBILCOCK, a member of the RAAF. Eileen moved to Adelaide to serve the WAAF.
In 1943 Colin TREBILCOCK was lost, missing presumed killed, in flight operations over Berlin, Germany. Eileen was granted "20 days special leave, without pay" when she was advised of Colin's presumed death.
It is believed Colin was buried in Friedrichshagen cemetery in Germany, but due to the area being in the Eastern Berlin area and a mistake in the grave recovery unit, these graves were not checked prior to the Eastern Berlin area being segregated and no access allowed. As such, although possibly knowing where her husband may be buried, Eileen was never to actually know where he was actually buried. Eileen later remarried.
She continued her service in the WAAF until the completion of the War.
