Daughter of Dora and William. On marriage Enid's surname was HAYS. Enid was awarded a Commendation Certificate for Exceptionally Valuable Service.

Enid Laura Franklin was born in Cowell on 26 April 1919, her parents were Dora and William Franklin. Before the war, Enid lived with her parents on their farm at Salt Creek, which is just north of Cowell. On her enlistment papers she stated her experience as: 'I have done all home cooking including bread making and baking, cooking for shearers and have taken many prizes for my cakes and pastry in local country shows, it is a work that I take a very keen interest in, and at present I am making homemade cakes and selling them at Whyalla’.
Enid Franklin enlisted in Adelaide in the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force on 18/3/1942, aged 22 years 10 months. She applied to become a cook with the WAAAF.
Enid began at the No 1 School of Technical Training in Melbourne in March 1942. She then moved to various other hospitals and training stations where she was a cook. Places she served at include the School of Technical Training, Depot Toorak Victoria, Hospital Ascot Vale, Engineering School Ascot Vale, Service Flight Training School at Mallala and the Initial Training School Victor Harbour.
Enid spent nearly a year at the RAAF Hospital at Ascot Vale, Victoria and her final appointment was at the No 4 RAAF Hospital at Sale, Victoria. Her last rank was Sergeant, and she was well known for how well she did at cooking for all the soldiers.
Enid Franklin received a Commendation Certificate for Exceptionally Valuable Service. The Eyre’s Peninsula Tribune reported that ‘Sgt Enid Franklin Sgt Enid Franklin, WAAAF has just received a Certificate of Commendation for services rendered and general efficiency. Congratulations Enid'.
Sergeant Franklin was discharged on 28 January 1945. Her papers stated 'Sgt Franklin EL Cook. Very Good. B and C superior.'
Enid Franklin married after the war, her surname was then Hays. She died on the 20 June 2012 aged 93 years old and is buried at the Cowell cemetery.
