Leading Aircraftman Allan George Roberts (Service No:47439) enlisted in the RAAF on 30 December 1941 as an Aircraftman I at No 5 Recruiting Centre Adelaide - mustered as Trainee Mechanic and remustered as Flight Mechanic on 17 May 1942. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 16 June 1943, LAC Roberts was attached to 2 Air Observers' School (AOS) Mt Gambier (Fitter) and was attached to 2 Operational Training Unit at Discharge on 26 November 1945. Four of LAC Robert's siblings - Ernest, Clarence, Charles and Howard - also served in WWII.

Allan was born in 1911 in Adelaide South Australia, fifth of ten children of Sydney Dean Roberts (b1878 in Dublin, South Australia) and Ellen Frances Emily Rose (b1881 at Reedbeds, South Australia). Sydney (a Labourer) and Emily married in 1901 in Windsor, South Australia and lived in Adelaide, Long Plains, Balaklava, Mallala and Medindie where they raised their family and Sydney worked as a Labourer.

Allan worked in Port Adelaide for General Motors Holden as a Mechanic and Driver, and in 1937 at Woodville married Isobel Flora Turnley (b1917 in Adelaide, South Australia). Allan and Isobel settled in Port Adelaide where Allan worked for General Motors Holden and was a Supervisor (Transport) in 1941 when he enlisted in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, Allan and Isobel lived in Port Adelaide where Allan was a Dealer in 1950, and owner with brother Fred of an industrial allotment in Alice Springs. Allan died in 1974 and Isobel in 2003.
