Son of John George and Lucy Annie Matheson nee Turbill; husband of Queenie Matheson, of Unley, South Australia; brother of George Douglas Matheson, Mary Frances Lucy Matheson, Hugh Keith Matheson, Barbara Ellen Matheson, James Alexander Matheson, Margaret Jean Matheson, Rodney Scott Matheson

5 April 1928 - John married Queenie Dorman at the residence of Rev. J. Paynter of  Parkside, South Australia

Plane was an Avro Anson W2556 which crashed in St Vincent's Gulf after taking off from Mallala for a test run having just completed a 240 hour maintence inspection. Some wreckage from the plane washed ashore near Port Parham but no bodies were ever found

Advice has been received by Mrs. Matheson, of Bridgewater, that her husband, LAC Colin Matheson, lost his life as a result of an air-craft accident on July 14. He enlisted from Kalgoorlie, WA, in April, 1941. He was the fourth son of Mr. J. G. Matheson, of Stirling West, formerly of Snowtown, and the late Mrs. Matheson. He left one son and two daughters.
